Hungku Valley Trek
Hungku Valley Trek, a remote trek features rugged terrain, remote beauty, pristine forests, and stunning views of Mera Peak. Hungku Valley Trek commences with a flight to the small Tumlingtar airstrip, marking the beginning of our adventure. From there, we descend into the picturesque Arun Valley, a verdant oasis teeming with birdlife. These initial days offer a striking contrast to the lofty mountain terrain we’ll encounter later in the trek. Traversing through dense rhododendron and bamboo forests, we make our way towards Mera A, which lies between the Hongu and Huku Valleys. En route to Panch Pokhari, we encounter a charming Sherpa village and the Kirong La Monastery.
On this Hungku Valley Trek, after Panch Pokhari, the trail descends to the untamed Hunku River, offering breathtaking vistas. To the east, Kanchenjunga and Jannu grace the horizon, while to the north, the Hunku and Hongu valleys dominate the scenery. Continuing on, we reach Thagnag (4366 m) before ascending to Khare (5108 m), where we establish a base camp for Mera La (5415 m), allowing time for rest and acclimatization. Our return journey leads us southward, descending to Hunku Drangka before veering west to cross Zatrawa La, ultimately reaching the Lukla airstrip, marking the conclusion of our trek.
